Our school recently celebrated our principal’s birthday. Students and teachers wished her a happy birthday and showed appreciation for everything she has done for this school. Our principal works hard to support students, teachers, and the whole school community. She helps create a positive and safe learning environment for everyone. We are grateful for her leadership and dedication. We wish her a happy birthday and many more successful years ahead.

On February 6, 2026, at 5:00 pm, Martin Van Buren held a Valentine's dance in the gym for anyone to attend! The theme was based on the usual valentines colors, red, pink, and white. Students dressed up in those colors to embrace the valentines spirit! In this event, they served food like cupcakes, bread, soda, and water to keep students satisfied and full. Even at the end of the event, students left happy no matter if they had a valentine or not. This dance helped spread love

On February 7, 2026, the freshman class at Martin Van Buren High School was rewarded with a trip to United Skates of America in Seaford, NY after earning the highest attendance rate in the school. The class achieved recognition by constantly showing up and demonstrating responsibility. On 16 January 2026, the author Malaka Gharib came to MVB High through Zoom to talk about her book, ‘I Was Their American Dream: A Graphic Memoir.’ The book ‘I Was Their American Dream: A Graphic Memoir' is about Malaka Gharib, the author, and her life growing up as an Egyptian-Filipino American. From January 9–11, the senior class at Martin Van Buren will take their annual senior trip to Split Rock Resort in the Poconos. Martin Van Buren High School held its Annual Recognition Night on December 18, 2025, in the school auditorium to celebrate student achievement. Last year, Martin Van Buren students gathered in the library for the school’s common point annual Friendsgiving celebration. The event was open to all grade levels, and tons of students showed up with different dishes to share. The Glow Party is a school and community celebration hosted at Martin Van Buren High School that transforms the small gym into a neon, black light filled space where everything, from decorations to face paint, glows in the dark. During the months of October to November in 2025, Martin Van Buren is hosting a food drive to support those affected by the hurricane, Mellisa, in Jamaica. Students and staff work together to donate non-perishable foods for those in Jamaica that faced the impact of the hurricane. People who donate bring their foods to Ms. Ramoo in room 135-E.
