Last year, Martin Van Buren students gathered in the library for the school’s common point annual Friendsgiving celebration. The event was open to all grade levels, and tons of students showed up with different dishes to share. The library is decorated with fall colors, paper leaves, and string lights, giving it a cozy vibe. Teachers helped organize the tables, but most of the setup was done by student volunteers.
Throughout the afternoon, students enjoyed a huge variety of food from, mac and cheese and turkey to brownies and empanadas. People went around trying each other’s dishes, and it felt like everyone was one big family for the evening. Overall, Friendsgiving was a big success and a fun break before the holiday season. Students said it was nice to hang out with friends outside of class and just enjoy good food together. The event also helped bring the school community closer, since people got to meet others they normally wouldn’t talk to.
This year the Friendsgiving will be held on November 25. Come join us for food and a great time. Hang out with friends, take photos in the Photo Booth, and more. You don’t want to miss it! Can’t wait to see you there!
