Racisms Influence in Schools

Racism in school is completely unreasonable and unethical. School is a place of self growth and self discovery, but how is that possible when everyone is telling who you're supposed to be based on your race. The unoriginal names down the hall, the weird nicknames that you don't understand or the “funny” jokes that you hear everyone laugh at. As a school, as a community, as people, we shouldn't make close-minded comments on a topic we don't understand ourselves.
In Newark School of Global Studies, student David Malakai Allen and his friends were targets of racism. At first it might start as people giving you weird looks, or even creating a distance but indefinitely they don't see you as an equal. In the article posted by Chalkbeat, It talks about how they thought people didn’t like them, and mentions nothing about their race until later, as stated, “During my sophomore year, a number of friends and I attempted to rationalize the way we were being treated. Maybe our classmates just didn’t like us, we thought.” In other words, these students just wanted to think positively and didn't see the actual problem was rooted in racism.
In conclusion, you never know when it comes to people and their identity, so assuming and taking advantage of that is cruel and inhuman. We all bleed red so there's no point in highlighting what's on the outside. There are many cases I could cover on this and that's the worst of it all. We are people, we are humans and there's only so much of us so why turn on each other.
