Do we really need AI?

AI is a computer system that mimics human intelligence to learn, solve problems, and make decisions. Loads of people use it on a daily basis without knowing the dangers of it. Many students turn to AI when they don’t know how to solve something, or if they’re too lazy to even try. I think that this is a huge problem because not only is it holding students from their true potential, it is also very harmful to the environment.

AI uses massive energy and water consumption that leads to carbon emissions. According to Yale School of the Environment and Parliament of Australia, “Ai increases emissions from energy use that contributes to global warming.” This is a huge problem for our environment because it is leading to global warming and pollution.

Many students doubt their ability to solve problems on their own. This leads to them asking AI, sometimes without even trying. I think that we don’t realize that we can do it without AI. Right now it may not seem like a problem, but it will eventually catch up to us. There is no reason for us to destroy our environment just because we are lazy. We just need to stop doubting ourselves and holding ourselves back.
