On May 20th, 2026, Martin Van Buren High School's media students welcomed Adobe representative Chiara Geremia, a Senior Customer Success Manager, for a special presentation about creative technology and careers in the media industry. Geremia first connected with Ms. Choriatis after attending the NYCPS Film Festival, where Martin Van Buren media students showcased their work. Impressed by the quality of the program and the students' creativity, she decided to visit the school to learn more about the media program and share her professional experiences.
During her presentation, Geremia discussed what it is like to work for Adobe and explained the important role Adobe software plays across the creative industry. She introduced students to professional tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator, demonstrating how they are used in fields including video editing, graphic design, animation, and digital storytelling. Her presentation highlighted how the skills students are developing in the classroom directly connect to industry standards and real-world careers.
Geremia also emphasized the importance of mastering Adobe programs and encouraged students to work toward Adobe certifications, which can help strengthen resumes and demonstrate technical expertise to future employers. She explained how certifications can provide students with a competitive advantage as they pursue college programs, internships, and careers in creative fields.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for MVB students to showcase their own film projects, many of which were edited using Adobe Premiere Pro. Students received professional feedback on their editing techniques, storytelling choices, and overall production quality. The constructive critiques helped students gain a better understanding of industry expectations while also recognizing the strengths of their work.
Throughout the session, students observed demonstrations of Adobe's creative tools and learned strategies for improving their projects through stronger editing, organization, and design techniques. Geremia also shared insights into career pathways in digital media and stressed the importance of creativity, consistency, and building a strong portfolio over time.
