The Glow Party is a school and community celebration hosted at Martin Van Buren High School that transforms the small gym into a neon, black light filled space where everything, from decorations to face paint, glows in the dark. The event is designed to give students a fun, safe, and exciting environment to enjoy right before Halloween. This was hosted on October 30th. Participants are invited to enjoy free entry, free candy, and free glow items, all provided through a partnership between Commonpoint Queens, DYCD, and NYC Public Schools. Under UV lights, students can dance, socialize, and express themselves with bright neon colors and glow-in-the-dark accessories. Overall, the Glow Party is a creative, high-energy event focused on community, celebration, and giving teens a festive evening to look forward to.
There were lots of good things included in the event. There was a photobooth designed for kids to take pictures holding different props, there were costumes and decorations that filled the entire gym. There was free food, a diverse amount of candy, cultural different music playing around, and just relaxing the evening before Halloween. The school hosted this event for kids to have a fun and memorable time at MVB!
Students should attend the Glow Party because it offers a fun, safe, and exciting way to celebrate the Halloween season with friends. The neon lights, music, glow accessories, and free candy create a unique atmosphere that makes the event feel like a real celebration rather than just another school activity. It’s a chance to relax after classes, enjoy creative glow-in-the-dark face paint, dance, take photos, and be part of a positive community event. The party is completely free, supervised, and designed specifically for students to have a memorable and enjoyable time together.
